What is a Physician Assistant?
A physician assistant (PA) is a licensed healthcare professional who practices medicine under the supervision of a physician and provides a broad range of services that were traditionally performed by a doctor. Physician assistants are trained with doctors under the physician model. Working with the surgeon, physician assistants are skilled in operating room surgical techniques, performs pre- and post-operative care, and are able to perform special tests and procedures. They also perform physical exams, diagnose illnesses, develop and carry out treatment plans, order and interpret lab tests, suture wounds, give injections, and provide healthcare education.
About Me
Troy Chandler is a Board Certified Physician Assistant specializing in Orthopedic Surgery. Troy is a native Texan and lives in Decatur with his beautiful wife Michelle and three wonderful children Olivia, Eben, and Isabella.
In 1998 Troy graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and Chemistry. He then attended the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth and graduated in 2004 with a Master of Science Degree in Physician Assistant Studies.
After graduation Troy began his career as a Board Certified Physician Assistant with Dr. Wade McKenna, taking care of the patients of Decatur and the surrounding areas. Over the past 15 years Troy has assisted Dr. Mckenna in over 9000 surgical procedures. In his spare time, Troy enjoys spending time with family, hunting, fishing, and lifting weights.
